Briarpatch is an award-winning independent magazine of politics and culture, offering original reporting, insight, and analysis from a grassroots perspective. It is distributed across Canada and internationally.
For the ‘Great Manitoba’ May/June 2020 issue, I worked with the editor to develop the accompanying illustration to Mirusha Yogarajah’s “When Memory Outlives.”
The article thoughtfully speaks on the history of Tamils in Canada and Tamil working class resistance. Through the illustration, I sought to convey this theme, where working class Tamils more often than not shoulder the burden of keeping Toronto running while also illustrating their unequal treatment.
This illustration was created in Procreate.
